Stareable Opens Submissions for its First LA Web Series Screening Event

Stareable is the largest community of web series creators and fans, building the future of television through collaboration and discovery. As part of that, we want to help creators get their web series in front of live audiences. We’ve been hosting regular screenings in New York and they’ve been a blast, highlighting great shows and giving attendees a chance to meet their peers and find ways to collaborate. And on August 24th, 2017 , we’re bringing our screening series to Los Angeles. Filmmakers can submit their web series for consideration on FilmFreeway at this link: https://filmfreeway.com/festival/StareablesLAscreening

At our most recent screening in May, we also launched our rapidly-growing Creator Community , which you can find at community.stareable.com. Creators at our events consistently say they struggle to source collaborators from outside their existing social networks. They also acknowledge that the strategies to create their shows are largely pieced together, which is why our blog, where we’ve written extensively about the how-to’s and craft of web series, has become well-read and widely-disseminated. Stareable wants to enable these conversations by creating a robust online community where creators can share advice, resources, and feedback in a dynamic way. We’ve built a schedule of daily events to drive engagement, leveraging our existing community of a thousand web series creators to create initial momentum.

Those daily events include Stareable’s Guide to Making a Web Series , with craft articles and discussions of the various components of making and distributing web series; Creator Critiques , where the creator community comes together to offer constructive feedback and advice for other shows, and receive the same for their own; and Ask Me Anythings , with expert guests from the web series world answering questions, those expert guests ranging from Classic Alice’s creator/star Kate Hackett to the co-creators of the IFC Comedy Crib series Frank & Lamar, Carl Foreman Jr and Anthony Gaskins.

We’re honored and excited for the opportunity to put our platform in the hands of more West Coast creators, and to put their shows in front of a passionate, in-person audience.
