Shriekfest Film Festival to Screen The Basement, Starring Mischa Barton
The annual Los Angeles competition will kick off with an opening night gala October 5
The Shriekfest Film Festival, an international horror/sci-fi film and screenplay competition, has announced its 2017 finalists and is slated to screen the psychological horror thriller The Basement, starring Mischa Barton (The OC, The Sixth Sense). Tracie Thoms (Death Proof, Looper) and Bailey Anne Borders (The 5thWave) also star.
In the film, a seemingly innocent man is abducted by a notorious L.A. serial killer, who forces his victims to switch roles with him so that he can enact his own capture, torture, and murder.
In addition to 10 features, the festival will also screen more than 35 outstanding and diverse international short films, covering just about every aspect of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy.
The Shriekfest Film Festival runs October 5 – 8, 2017. An opening night party will take place at Boardners/Bar Sinister in Hollywood; the rest of the festival will be at the iconic Raleigh Studios on Melrose Blvd.
Shriekfest, now in its 17th year, was created in July 2001 by Denise Gossett and has grown into the longest-running and one of the largest horror and sci-fi film festivals in the country. This is also the first year that Shriekfest will be bi-coastal with Shriekfest Orlando on October 21st. Since its inception, Shriekfest has offered young and upcoming writers, actors, and producers a chance to have their work screened and rated by peers.
