Shriekfest Film Festival to Screen World Premiere of Horror-Comedy Feature Cannibals and Carpet Fitters
The annual Los Angeles competition will kick off with an opening night gala October 5
The Shriekfest Film Festival, an international horror/sci-fi film and screenplay competition, has announced its 2017 finalists and is slated to screen the black comedy horror feature Cannibals and Carpet Fitters.
The feature film, based on a short film of the same name that was also screened at a previous Shriekfest festival, follows a group of carpet fitters sent on a job to an old country house, inhabited by a family of cannibals. The motley crew is forced to fight for their lives or risk ending up being the evening’s dinner.
The film was directed by James Bushe, whose short film Blackout won the “Best Horror Short” award at Shriekfest in 2012.
In addition to Cannibals and Carpet Fitters and nine other feature films, Shriekfest will also screen more than 30 outstanding and diverse international short films, covering just about every aspect of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy.
The Shriekfest Film Festival runs October 5 – 8, 2017. The public is invited to an opening night party at Boardners/Club Sinister in Hollywood; all are also welcome to attend the screenings at the iconic Raleigh Studios on Melrose Ave
Shriekfest, now in its 17th year, was created in July 2001 by Denise Gossett and has grown into the longest-running and one of the largest horror and sci-fi film festivals in the country. Shriekfest is bi-coastal this year as well, with Shriekfest Orlando kicking off on October 21.
Since its inception, Shriekfest has offered young and upcoming writers, actors and producers a chance to have their work screened and rated by peers.
