Stareable Fest is excited to announce that the panel for their pitch competition will now include a Comedy Central executive, offering filmmakers a unique opportunity to hone their pitch skills in front of a company that knows better than most where the talent is these days: online.
About the Stareable Fest pitch competition
Every great television show starts as a pitch, yet pithily capturing an immersive universe that will hopefully span seasons and enrapture imaginations can be a daunting task. As part of Stareable’s mission to help independent filmmakers succeed, we are holding a pitch competition, enabling creators to hone their pitch by getting them actionable feedback from industry executives. Filmmakers submit 90 second “elevator pitches” to be considered and finalists will be offered an opportunity to deliver their pitch live to our panel of industry judges on the Saturday night of Stareable Fest. Judges will consider each, offer feedback, and ultimately crown a winner. All while an audience of the creators’ peers laugh, cry, and cheer them on.
About Stareable Fest
Stareable Fest will take place July 20th-22nd, 2018, in New York City, and is now accepting submissions for short and long form independent television content in comedy, drama, animation, unscripted/reality, and documentary categories. Awards will be given out for best in show as well as excellence in writing, acting, editing, cinematography, directing, and innovative new media (interactive/transmedia) elements.
A key Stareable Fest goal is to make television more inclusive. Underrepresented groups like women, people of color, and the LGBT+ community have thrived in web series and online. We want to empower these diverse voices by showcasing their work to industry so they can make the leap to mainstream platforms and gain broader audiences.
Stareable Fest will also offer a full weekend of events including screenings of outstanding digital and indie TV, classes and panels about how to work more effectively, networking events dedicated to finding new collaborators, and strategic access to industry looking to discover “the next great voice.”
