CE Announces Screen Experience Courses!

New program starting in May 2018 teaches skills for screenwriting, animation

After having established itself as the place where aspiring comic book creators learn from industry professionals, Comics Experience is very excited to announce its new venture: Screen Experience. Launching in May 2018, Screen Experience will offer online educational courses designed for aspiring writers and artists who want to hone their skills for the film, television, and animation industries. A companion podcast, Pages to Pictures, debuted on March 18.

Comics Experience has engaged talented professionals in the film and animation industries to teach the Screen Experience courses. On offer are both introduction and advanced classes, ensuring that students can benefit no matter their level of experience. Screen Experience’s classes will be held live online by video, with ample opportunities for students to individually interact in real-time with their instructors and classmates, as well as to receive feedback for their work.

The first Screen Experience course is a day-long online Master Seminar with Georgia Lee. Lee, who writes for Syfy’s The Expanse, will instruct students on writing, collaborating, and managing a writing staff.

The instructor for Screen Experience’s screenwriting courses is James Janowsky, who taught screenwriting and film business at New York’s School of Visual Arts for six years.

Owen Welsh will teach courses on animation and character design for Screen Experience. Welsh has worked in the video game industry for 13 years and studied under master animator Don Bluth.

Andy Schmidt, the founder of Comics Experience, sees the Screen Experience courses as a natural extension of the comic book writing and art courses that Comics Experience has offered since 2007.

“With all the overlap between storytellers, I always knew this day would come. I knew that the creators I knew and the students and clients we’ve had would eventually force us to create courses for the silver screen and television,” said Schmidt. “This has been a long time coming and I’m confident that the instructors we’ve got lined up are more than up to the task!”

Screen Experience offers a full range of courses – screenwriting, animation, character design, and storyboarding. Prospective students can sign up at the www.screenexperience.com. There are bundling discounts for students signing up for more than one related courses. The complete listings are as follows:
