Shriekfest Film Festival to Screen Los Angeles Premiere of the Horror/Thriller Alive, Featuring Angus Macfadyen
The annual Los Angeles competition will kick off with an opening night gala October 4
The Shriekfest Film Festival, an international horror/sci-fi film and screenplay competition, has announced its 2018 finalists and is slated to screen the terrifying torture-based thriller Alive.
The feature film, directed by Rob Grant, follows a severely injured man and woman who awake in an abandoned sanitarium only to discover that a sadistic caretaker holds the keys to their freedom and the horrific answers as to their true identity. The film stars Thomas Cocquerel, Camille Stopps, and Angus Macfadyen, the latter most famous for playing Robert the Bruce in 1995’s Braveheart
In addition to Alive and nine other feature films, Shriekfest will also screen more than 30 outstanding and diverse international short films, covering just about every aspect of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy.
The Shriekfest Film Festival runs October 4 – 7, 2018. The public is invited to an opening night party at Boardners/Club Sinister in Hollywood; all are also welcome to attend the screenings at the iconic Raleigh Studios on Melrose Ave.
Shriekfest, now in its 18th year, was created in July 2001 by Denise Gossett and has grown into the longest-running and one of the largest horror and sci-fi film festivals in the country. Shriekfest is bi-coastal for a second year as well, with Shriekfest Orlando kicking off on November 3.
Since its inception, Shriekfest has offered young and upcoming writers, actors and producers a chance to have their work screened and rated by peers.
