Women in Horror Month Interview with Author Luna Nightshade

As you may know, February is “Women in Horror” month. To celebrate, PromoteHorror.com asked women from different professions if they would like to answer some questions about being a “Woman in Horror,” and more. One of those women, who was kind enough to answer our questions, was author Luna Nightshade. Lets see what she said about being a “Woman in Horror”…

-PH: When did you first become a horror fan?

-Luna: I first became a horror fan at the age of four when my mother showed me my very first horror movie which was House on Haunted Hill and then the Friday the 13th series.

-PH: Was there a specific moment when you realized that you wanted to go from being a fan of horror to a woman who contributes to the genre, or did it just kind of happen naturally?

-Luna: There was a specific moment when I realized that I wanted to be more than just a horror fan and that was when I had read Stephen King’s novel IT and realized that anybody that was willing to put that much work into something could be a writer.

-PH: What does having a “Women in Horror” month mean to you?

-Luna: What having a “Women in Horror” month means to me is that the women that work so hard to either make themselves known or even just get into the genre finally get the recognition that they deserve since they never really get recognition on an average day.

-PH: Is there a woman in horror who you consider a role model?

-Luna: A woman in horror that I consider a role model would have to be Danielle Harris because she is able to juggle her acting career with being a full time mother.

-PH: How do you think the role of women in horror has changed over the years?

-Luna: I think that the role of women in horror has changed over the years through just being the victim of killers in movies to becoming the hero of the films, the villain of the films and even authors within the horror genre.

-PH: If you could serve a role in horror that you’ve never done, what would it be?

-Luna: That’s a tough one to answer but, if I had to pick, I would have to say that I would want to take on the role of either a horror filmmaker or even just the role of the leading lady in a horror film.

-PH: Who is your favorite final girl, and favorite female villain?

-Luna: My favorite final girl in horror would have to be Danielle Harris’ character Marybeth from Hatchet 3 and my favorite villain would have to be Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes in Misery.

-PH: Being that this is PromoteHorror.com, please feel free to plug your current/next horror project.

-Luna: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NCG262X my first novella Tales From The Deep Web is available on all Amazon marketplaces for only .99 cents per copy on Kindle. I am currently working on a part two to this book and it will also be available on Amazon for a low price. Follow me on Twitter @LunarTerror666 to get updates on any of my works that will soon be available for purchase on Amazon.

We would like to thank Luna Nightshade for taking the time to answer our questions, but more importantly for her contribution to horror!
