Shriekfest Announces the ACCEPTANCE of THE BLACK STRING!

Shriekfest Film Festival to screen the THE BLACK STRING, starring Golden Globe® nominee Frankie Muniz (2002, TV’s “Malcom in the Middle,” Best Television Actor — Musical/Comedy Series), Chelsea Edmundson (Thunder Road, Altitude, TV’s “Casual”), Ravi Patel (Transformers, Meet the Patels, TV’s “Master of None”), Blake Webb ( Allegiant, TV’s “Colony” and “Criminal Minds”), Richard Handley (Devil’s Whisper, Finding Fortune), Cullen Douglas (TV’s “American Crime Story” and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), and Mary K. DeVault (TV’s “This Is Us,” “Glee,” and “Modern Family”). Directed by Brian Hanson.

After Jonathan (Frankie Muniz) hooks up with sexy Dena through a swinger’s hotline, he becomes incredibly ill. Suffering from blackouts and hallucinations, Jonathan’s life begins to fall apart. He becomes convinced that he’s the helpless victim of an evil cult that’s cursed him with deadly mystical forces beyond his control. But is this supernatural threat real or all in Jonathan’s troubled mind? This riveting horror-thriller will leave you shaken long after it’s all done.

In addition to 10 features, the festival will also screen more than 35 outstanding and diverse international short films, covering just about every aspect of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy.
The Shriekfest Film Festival runs September 26-29, 2019. An opening night party will take place at Boardners/Bar Sinister in Hollywood; the rest of the festival will be at the iconic Raleigh Studios on Melrose Ave.

Shriekfest, now in its 19th year, was created in July 2001 by Denise Gossett and has grown into the longest-running and one of the largest horror and sci-fi film festivals in the country. Shriekfest is a bi-coastal festival with Shriekfest Orlando on November 2nd. Since its inception, Shriekfest has offered young and upcoming writers, actors, and producers a chance to have their work screened and rated by peers.
