BENNYTOWN

NO ONE IS SAFE IN…

For nearly sixty years, Bennytown has been America’s most exciting family theme park destination. Under the watchful eye of cultural icon Benny the Bunny, the park has entertained generations of children with its friendly atmosphere and technologically innovative rides. Park founder Fletcher Dorian’s dream lives to this day, with Bennytown acting as a beacon of joy and wonder, where magic is real and dreams come true.

Bennytown once saved sixteen-year-old Noel Hallstrom’s life, and to repay it, Noel has applied for a summer job. Though the work is messy and the hours are bad, Noel is happy to be a part of the Bennytown family, until he sees the darkness beneath the surface. Strange, mechanized mascots walk the park perimeter. Elegantly dressed cultists in wooden Benny masks lurk in the darkness. Spirits of the many who’ve died in the park roam freely, and every night the park transforms into a dark dimension where madness reigns and monsters prowl.

Noel is about to find out more about Bennytown than he ever wanted to know, and that its darkness might have designs on him…

“Another reviewer mentioned Bennytown being a combination of Final Destination, Alice in Wonderland, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I agree with all three comparisons, with a mix of 1981’s The Funhouse and random bits from Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Ray Bradbury’s classic Something Wicked This Way Comes. The reader can tell that this author is a fan of the horror genre.”

“Nothing beats the feeling of being transported to another world of your imagination, particularly when your thoughts are so easily formed by vivid explanations and details. This book is up there with the best of them. The characters were likeable, the storyline keeps you engaged and there are some unexpected occurrences thrown in here and there which made it so much fun to devour. I enjoyed this book immensely! It is a must-read for everyone – not just those who relish the horror genre. Get it – you will not be disappointed.”

“All in all, Bennytown is a great book. Matt Carter’s books are always page-turners and Bennytown is no exception. I couldn’t put the book down, and ended up finishing it in only two days, which is quite fast for me. I highly recommend picking it up if you like horror or thrillers.”

“I finished this creepy, teen horror last night. The writing was excellent and the story really pulled me in. I loved the main character Noel and found him really likable. I also loved how the author brought Bennytown to life and the evil that lurked within. The plot was great with a few things I didn’t see coming at all… All in all, this is a great read with so very interesting and nasty characters as well as a very likeable main character to tie the story and plot together. This is an author that I will definitely be following and looking forward to reading more of his work.”

“In short, I personally think Bennytown is a trip worthy of taking and of course, a book worthy of reading, as the characters and what they’ve been through in the seemingly lovely theme park will leave an unforgettable impression on you. Better yet, they will also redefine yourself and whatever elements making you YOU, if that made sense. All in all, I can’t believe I’m saying this but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BENNYTOWN! After all, we all need something to shake ourselves loose for the time being and nothing beats the goose-bumps-causing horror/thriller novel, Bennytown. Isn’t THAT exciting?”

And then give this series a read…

From Book 1: Under normal circumstances, Ben and Mina would never have had reason to speak to each other. He’s an easy-going people person with a healthy skepticism about the paranormal; she’s a dangerously obsessive monster-hunter with a crippling fear of betrayal. But the small Northern California town of Prospero, with its rich history of cryptid sightings, miracles, and mysterious disappearances, has no normal circumstances to offer.

When Ben’s missing childhood friend, Haley Perkins, stumbles out of Prospero’s surrounding woods and right into her own funeral, Ben and Mina are forced to work together to uncover what happened to her. Different as they are, their unlikely friendship may be the only thing that can save the town, and possibly the world, from its insidious invaders.

“This was a fantastically written, well-woven tale from page 1! It was so good, I could hardly put it down. I read it in about 2 or 3 sittings. The concept itself isn’t too complicated, though it unravels a bit slowly, which worked for me–made me read faster cuz I needed to know more! But it’s such a great concept, not one we’ve never heard of, but totally reinvented. Not wanting to give spoilers, I have to recommend it for fans of body-snatching and shifters tales. Even if you don’t like those tales or know about them, this is a must-read. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!”

“Suspense, Thriller, Mystery, SciFi – this book has them all! I was completely blown away by the content. I am not going to regurgitate the book to you but if you want a book set in today’s time that absolutely defies all natural knowledge of how our world works and have teens be the ones who are saving the World – then yeah, this book is for you! The character building was perfect – you could see the expressions and tones used easily. Not once did you get lost in the understanding of what was going on, but you are likely to say, “Um, did that really just happen?” I enjoyed this book greatly!”

“A snapping, crackling, popping homage to classic horror.” —Kirkus Reviews.
