GenreBlast, LLC, parent company of the acclaimed GenreBlast Film Fest, has officially launched their own independent genre film production company in GenreBlast Films. Founded in 2015 and run by Nathan D. Ludwig, the GenreBlast Film Fest has championed truly independent international genre cinema through promoting and screening a wide variety of films at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Winchester, VA.
The next step in GenreBlast’s evolution is a production company that follows the same work ethic and independent spirit that has made the film festival one of the fastest growing, most talked about, and celebrated genre film fests in the world. GenreBlast Films aims to help truly independent genre films get off the ground and up and running. From acquiring intellectual property rights and crowdfunding and fest submissions, to production coordination and securing film distribution, GB Films is there with you every step of the way to ensure your indie genre film gets made the right way.
GenreBlast Film Fest producer Raygan Letterer and lead programmer Chad Farmer will also join GenreBlast Films in various roles and capacities, including location scouting, casting, production design, and as associate producers.
GenreBlast Films’ first feature film as a production company is the film adaptation of the critically acclaimed horror anthology “Worst Laid Plans”, edited by Samantha Kolesnik and published by Grindhouse Press. “Worst Laid Plans” will by produced by Ludwig and Kolesnik and features five vacation-themed horror short films directed by Kolesnik, John Hale, Vanessa lonta Wright, Jeremy Herbert, and Michael Escobedo based on stories written by S.E. Howard, Waylon Jordan, Patrick Lacey, Herbert, and Hailey Piper respectively.
In addition, GB Films has already locked on to their next two projects. “Trucksquatch”, a horror/comedy about Bigfoot and racism directed by Hale and written by Hale and Ludwig, as well as the feature film debut of Ludwig and Farmer, a one-location crime/horror/thriller tentatively titled “The Inferno Debt”. GenreBlast has a few more projects in their sights as well with their details to be revealed later in the year.
