Transgressive Fiction Writer GARTH JONES Releases Home Brewed Vampire Bullets

TRANSGRESSIVE OUTBACK FICTION WRITER GARTH JONES KICKS INTO OVERDRIVE WITH MONGREL PUNK OCCULT ROCK ‘N ROLL OPUS “HOME BREWED,VAMPIRE BULLETS, VOL ONE”

Vintage tourism ads called it the “centre of the Outback”, scarily remote birthplace of the rough-and-tumble working class battler.

Hailing from the wide desert vistas stalked by Mad Max, transgressive fiction author Garth Jones has molded a rock ‘n roll infused, black-comedy bender in his latest series of novellas, Home Brewed Vampire Bullets, Vol One.

Jones’ work lampoons the Australian cultural canon, layering in political satire, Bizarro, the New Weird, straight-up body horror, semi-autobiographical detours and a lifelong fixation on the iconography of sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll.

The title, Home Brewed Vampire Bullets, Vol One, evokes that cacophony of styles, riding a jaggedly scraped bump of hi-octane mayhem – Home Brewed’s blunt-force Aussie vernacular charms as much as it disgusts, then leaves you in absolute stitches.
Like the town of Jones’ origin, this book is wild, debauched and chock-full of iconic characters.

Here’s what people are already saying:

“Brilliant – reminds me of Richard Allen fuelled mayhem, Stewart Home and Deadline!”

Jones – whose career has spanned stints designing ads for phone sex lines, writing for a church newspaper and even drawing a few comics for Van Halen’s David Lee Roth – is inspired by rock ‘n roll fantasists and occult piss-takers, the iconoclasts and the wildly self-indulgent.

“Remember when Aussies could take the piss out of ourselves? Home Brewed is a mongrel punk road odyssey that takes place in a parallel Australia,” Jones says. “An all-girl band from the future and an undead pub rocker are dragged into an inter-dimensional war when they discover their headlining gig is more than it seems. We all need to get a good laugh out of the Apocalypse, right? Let’s go!”

Home Brewed Vampire Bullets, Vol One is available for purchase in print and digital editions from www.passtheamyl.com on October 31, 2022, and features a unique QR-code driven soundtrack. Volumes Two and Three will be released quarterly, in January 2023 and April 2023 respectively.
