FAB Press Re-Issues Beyond Terror Lucio Fulci Tribute, Indiegogo Campaign Live Now

FAB Press has today launched a new Indiegogo Campaign to raise the funds needed to re-issue the acclaimed book BEYOND TERROR: THE FILMS OF LUCIO FULCI.

Written by celebrated writer, researcher & film critic Stephen Thrower, the book runs to 440 large format pages and contains more than 1,100 illustrations.

Our goal is to re-issue Beyond Terror in a massively revised and expanded edition along with an exclusive DVD of all known Lucio Fulci trailers, gathered together for the first time ever, all presented in a heavy duty case reminiscent of the Book of Eibon from Fulci’s classic supernatural horror film The Beyond. This special edition of Beyond Terror will never be re-issued and will be vastly superior to the highstreet trade edition of the book that will follow.

The Beyond Terror Indiegogo campaign is now live, and runs for 35 days, finishing on 28 June. Please visit campaign today and share the link…

A Radical New Edition

This is more than just a re-issue; Stephen Thrower and FAB Press have spent the past three years working to fully revise, update and expand Beyond Terror to take account of the intervening twenty years of research and every new discovery about Lucio Fulci and his work. In fact so much has changed compared to the first edition that we can confidently claim this is effectively a NEW BOOK that will be of great value even to fans who already have a treasured copy of Beyond Terror in their library.

For the first time ever John has allowed that entire conversation to be published completely uncut, accompanied by rare behind the scenes and personal photographs of Fulci at work and at leisure.

• Exclusive Feature 4) — THE BEYOND WRAPAROUND BOOK JACKET — Special Edition books will be complete with the trade edition Zombie Flesh Eaters cover design, but they will ALSO include the original cover design from the 1999 hardback and 2003 paperback editions included as an additional bonus dust jacket…

The Author

After moving to London in 1985 Stephen Thrower began writing reviews for the seminal horror magazine Shock Xpress, before launching his own film periodical Eyeball in 1989 with contributors including novelist Ramsey Campbell, filmmaker Ron Peck, and critics Kim Newman, Daniel Bird, Alan Jones and Tim Lucas. His first book, Beyond Terror: The Films of Lucio Fulci, was published by FAB Press in 1999, followed by The Eyeball Compendium (FAB Press, 2003), Nightmare USA: The Untold Story of the Exploitation Independents (FAB Press, 2007), and Murderous Passions; the Delirious Cinema of Jesus Franco (Strange Attractor, 2015). He is currently working on a second volume about Jess Franco called Flowers of Perversion and the much awaited second volume of Nightmare USA. With his partner Ossian Brown, Thrower is also the founder of the avant-garde music group Cyclobe, who recently recorded new soundtracks for three silent Super-8 films by the British filmmaker and queer activist Derek Jarman (Sulphur, Tarot and Garden of Luxor). As a solo artist, Thrower scored Pakistan’s first gore film, Zibahkhana aka Hell’s Ground (2007), contributed electronic music to Down Terrace (2010) by Ben Wheatley, and was commissioned by the BFI in 2012 to score three silent short films by the pioneering director of gay erotica Peter De Rome. His most recent recording commission was a disco soundtrack for the short film Trouser Bar, produced by David McGillivray. In recent years he has appeared among the DVD extras for many cult horror movies on Blu-ray and DVD, including Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Tenderness of the Wolves, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Hellraiser, and many films by Jess Franco and Lucio Fulci. He was also a contributor to Jake West and Marc Morris’s Video Nasties: The Definitive Guide and Video Nasties: Moral Panic, Censorship & Videotape.

“Painstaking and accurately researched, not to mention lavishly illustrated throughout, this hardback gives remarkable insight into Fulci’s work. So, either as an introduction for the uninitiated or a keepsake for the horror movie connoisseur, Beyond Terror is the definitive book on the deranged movie genius of Lucio Fulci.”

— Kerrang! November 20 1999

“Beyond Terror is quite simply the most beautiful book on a horror subject I have ever seen.
