MovieMaker elicited the help this year of film producer Alok Mishra, whose horror hit 1BR scored the coveted No. 1 spot on Netflix earlier this fall. He assembled a team of cross-genre experts who drew on their extensive experiences and insights into festivals worldwide.
Festival Director, Denise Gossett says “I am so honored to be recognized on this list with so many amazing festivals”. Thank you to the entire panel and MovieMaker magazine”!
“Alok and our panelists’ lovingly assembled list includes films from a wide range of genres, from horror to fantasy to science fiction, and they recommended so many deserving festivals that we expanded the list to 50 for the first time,” said MovieMaker editor-in-chief Tim Molloy.
The panel consisted of genre experts including filmmakers, programmers, and more: Rakefet Abergel, Heather Buckley, Justin Cook, Bryan Glick, David Gregory, Stacy Pippi Hammon, Jay Kay, Nicole McControversy, Joshua Millican, Peter Phok and Miguel Rodriguez.
