Gallows is the new double single from Detroit deathgaze duo VAZUM. Released Friday, December 31 the double single consists of two versions of Gallows. The first is a dreamy and guitar-based arrangement performed in deathgaze fashion. The second is an electronic, dancy interpretation titled Lost Forest Mix. The duo (Zach Pliska and Emily Sturm) recorded and produced Gallows in their own Light Echo Studios, shortly after the release of their most recent album, Unrated V. With the double single comes a music video produced and directed by Emily Sturm.
VAZUM was formed in 2017 by Zach Pliska (vocals/guitar/drums) after playing drums in various Detroit outfits. In 2019 Emily Sturm (vocals/bass) joined the band, adding an uncompromising sound and aesthetic which they describe as deathgaze; combining the raw energy of deathrock with the depth of shoegaze. Zach and Emily have continued as a duo, releasing four albums and a handful of singles and EPs. More music and videos are in the works for 2022.
