After its successful run in the festival circuit, Nirmal Baby Varghese’s time-loop horror film ‘Dreadful Chapters’ started streaming on BookMyShow Stream in India and on Prime Video overseas from September 6.
The film has already garnered attention at several international film festivals. ‘Dreadful Chapters’ won the Best Feature Film at Festivus Film Fest (Canada) and was named Best Experimental Film at the Hollywood Gold Awards in Los Angeles. Jeffin Joseph won the Best Actor award at the Ideal International Film Festival in Maharashtra. The film won three awards at the Reels International Film Festival namely Best Horror Film, Best Cinematographer & Best Supporting Actor (Nibin Stany). The film was also selected for the Kalaburagi International Film Festival 2024.
Film produced by Baby Chaitanya and Nirmal Baby under the banner of Casablanca Film Factory in association with Vivid Frames. According to the director, the film will follow a group of friends trapped in a nightmarish time loop, forced to relive the same horrific experiences over and over again.
Leading the film’s cast are Jeffin Joseph, Varun Ravindran, Arya Krishnan, Shyam Salash, Nibin Stany and Lasya Balakrishnan. For director Nirmal Baby Varghese, “Dreadful Chapters” marks his second spine-tingling horror feature following “Vazhiye”, Kerala’s first found footage horror flick. Nirmal is known for his award-winning documentary “Thariode” and is currently adapting it into a period feature titled “Thariode: The Lost City” starring international artists.
The crew behind “Dreadful Chapters” includes cinematographer Midhun Eravil. The director himself handles the editing and director of audiography. Second unit cinematography: Shobin Francis.
