Breeder embodies everything Rabbits Black stands for – pushing creative boundaries, tackling provocative themes, and delivering compelling stories that resonate with audiences globally,” said K. Asher Levin, producer. “We are proud to support Alex in bringing this bold vision to life and can’t wait for audiences to experience the thrilling, thought-provoking journey Breeder offers.”

Blending tension, intrigue, and a dash of dark humor, Breeder delves into the ethical boundaries of modern science. The story follows Russell, a dedicated researcher who has spent years developing a revolutionary gene-editing solution to save the endangered bee population. Struggling with limited funding, Russell’s prospects brighten when a dog breeder, Patti, offers to sponsor his work. Drawn into her isolated ranch, Russell soon realizes that Patti’s ambitions extend far beyond saving bees. Her unsettling agenda includes breeding not just dogs – but humans – with Russell as her unwitting subject. Faced with a harrowing choice, Russell must decide whether to remain for or risk everything to escape her grip.

The cast includes Daniel Doheny as Russell (“Lucky Hank”, “Loudermilk”, “Alex Strangelove”), Maddie Phillips (“Gen V”, “The Boys”, “Teenage Bounty Hunters”), Tanaya Beatty (“Yellowstone”, Crimes of the Future), and Dot-Marie Jones as the enigmatic Patti (“Glee”, Bros).

“Alex has crafted a bold and captivating script that’s impossible to put down,” said Simon Crowe, SC Films Managing Director. “With such a talented cast and creative team, I am confident Breeder will deliver a truly unforgettable cinematic experience. We can’t wait to share it with audiences worldwide in 2026.”

Bringing a masterful touch to the thriller, Goyette combines suspense with sharp character-driven storytelling. Known for his work on NBC Peacock’s So Shook and as the Grand Prize winner of the Cinequest Screenwriting Competition for Breeder, Goyette draws inspiration from genre-defining films like Barbarian10 Cloverfield Lane, and Misery.

“Five years ago I had an insane personal experience, which sent me down a rabbit hole into the terrifying world of genetic engineering,” said Goyette. “Our society has become a bit too comfortable playing god, and I’m thrilled to invite audiences to be a part of that conversation with Breeder.”
