I Know Catherine, The Log Lady Continues National Rollout
New York City Premiere May 1 at IFC Center
Opens in Los Angeles May 9th at Laemmle Glendale
History of Cool and Next Step Studios are honored to announce the May 1 New York City and May 9 Los Angeles openings of Richard Green’s I Know Catherine, The Log Lady. The moving and intimate documentary is a look at the life and final performance of stage and screen actress and David Lynch collaborator Catherine Coulson.
Weeks after David Lynch announced the return, 25 years later, of his 1990 groundbreaking TV series “Twin Peaks”, Catherine, best known as the iconic Log Lady, learned she had terminal cancer. Not wanting to disappoint Lynch, her fans and her cast, Catherine struggled to live long enough to play the part of the Log Lady one more time before her own death days later. “The show must go on”.
I Know Catherine, The Log Lady will host a New York City premiere May 1st at the IFC Center, with an encore screening May 4th. In Los Angeles, the documentary will debut May 9th for a weeklong run at the Laemmle Glendale.
I Know Catherine, The Log Lady had its Hollywood premiere April 17th as the Closing Night Film of the American Cinematheque’s This is Not A Fiction Film Festival. Catherine’s family and friends from her career, including “Twin Peaks” star Kyle MacLachlan, “Twin Peaks” co-creator Mark Frost, and “Twin Peaks: The Return” producer Sabrina S. Sutherland were in attendance.
The screening sold out and earned emotional reviews from critics, with Film Threat declaring: “You’ll need a hefty supply of tissues as the moment approaches, as Coulson completes her circle and spends the moments after chatting with the director she admired and loved wholeheartedly”.
Ahead of the premiere, Green shared, “When Donna DuBain told me what lengths David Lynch and Catherine’s closest friends went through to get her final performance as the Log Lady on screen, days before she died, I knew there was a great story there. In their own words, Catherine’s friends weave a riveting tale of who Catherine was and and how and why the show must go on.”
