Eva Hamilton (Shudder’s: “Ruin Me” 2017) stars in the dystopian short film –
with a special appearance from Samm Todd (Trick R’ Treat 2007).
The short film, constructed to highlight the inherent value and importance of shorter narratives and female voices – coincides with Hamilton awaiting the release of her next feature film Mutilator 2, (sequel to the 1984 slasher classic)
“Conception”, meanwhile, serves as a modern tribute to The Twilight Zone (1959-1963) set in the near future.
“While American democracy has crumbled under the pressure of a constitutional crisis and the United States ceases to exist as we know it: UAP, UFO and Extraterrestrial phenomenon are simultaneously on the upsurge. In the midst of such, the widow of a Veteran grapples with this much darker version of her reality while ridding herself of her husband’s more paranoid, mid-2020s convention memorabilia. When she finds a life-sized, area-51-esque alien prop, something malevolent begins to punch a hole into her world”.
Distribution and Exhibition
The Mooncats will complete filming “Conception” at the end of May 2025.
Upon completion of the short film, Screambox will be offered an initial first look .. for their exclusive consideration .. as the Mooncat’s previous Motion Picture, “The Shed”, successfully acquired a non-exclusive distribution deal for exhibition on the Screambox series “Bloody Bites”.
The Production Company states “We are open to partnerships with Horror Conventions, Cinema Venues, Drive-In Theatres and Art Houses that maintain a history of celebrating 80s genre Cinema, upon completion of the film”.
The aforementioned film “The Shed” starred Stacey Nelkin (H3: Season of The Witch) and was deemed with an Official Selection status at over 18 Film Festivals, winning multiple awards and premiering at the “For the Love of Horror” convention in the United Kingdom in 2023.
