‘Birdwatcher’ – A Story Made for the Screen

Anchorcall Services (1209 Mountain Road PL NE, Ste R, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87110, 505-405-2195) has taken over the big screen adaptation of the novels Birdwatcher and Birdwatcher 2 from STX Entertainment, who pulled out last June 2025 due to staffers laid off across film departments as part of reorganization amid larger company restructuring.

Samantha Jacobs, a Literary Publicist of Anchorcall Services, put together a Film Development Proposal that highlights how Birdwatcher and Birdwatcher 2 by Ann Greyson could translate into suspense-driven, emotionally rich films or a limited series. Jacobs’ claims, “The dual threads of mystery and supernatural presence give Birdwatcher and Birdwatcher 2 a cinematic heartbeat that’s rare to see.”

Thanks to Samantha Jacobs’ aggressive cinematic pitch, executives of HBO Max are considering Birdwatcher to be produced as an exclusive original.

In March 2026, Anchorcall Services took over from last year’s bid by STX Entertainment for the rights from Ann Greyson to the Birdwatcher story. In May 2025, Tim Albert of STX Entertainment (Burbank, California) initiated talks for producing Ann Greyson’s story with Erick Hernandez at the helm of its production. The proposed budget for the film was $650,000 to start production by September 2026 and release the film on Netflix, or any of their subsidiaries, at the latest of June 2028.

For Birdwatcher, author Ann Greyson envisioned Director James Wan (The Conjuring), and actress Jeri Ryan (Star Trek TV programs) to portray the role of Estelle Rowland. The Birdwatcher (Kindle Direct Publishing) series is available wherever books are sold in the formats of paperback and e-Book.
