Cult Folk Horror PARKLANDS Gets Worldwide Release

Jinga Films is pleased to announce that following its debut on Shudder the remastered directors cut of Julian Richards cult folk horror DARKLANDS has been released worldwide on multiple streaming platforms including AmazonSkyApple TVPlexGoogleFandangoTubiFawesome and Philo. Starring Craig Fairbrass (Cliffhanger) and Jon Finch (Frenzy), DARKLANDS tells the story of a newspaper reporter lured into a conspiracy of pagan rituals and human sacrifice whilst investigating the death of a steelworker. The films post-industrial soundtrack was composed by John Murphy and David Hughes (28 Days Later).

The first indigenous Welsh horror film, DARKLANDS was produced in 1996 and won The Melies D’Argent for Best European Fantasy Film before being released worldwide in cinemas and VHS. In his book Urban Terrors, author MJ Simpson said “Darklands paved the way for the revival of UK horror in the 21st century. Dark, gritty, contemporary and urban, Julian Richards’ debut reinvented British horror movies.”

Now remastered to 4K Ultra HD DARKLANDS is experiencing a resurgence at festivals, with screenings at Fantasporto in Portugal, Hardline in Germany, Abertoir in Wales, Horror-On-Sea in England and Rhyller Thriller in Wales where it will screen on August 30th with director attending. DARKLANDS has also recieved a Collectors Edition release on Bluray in Germany.
