Academy Award winner and FX legend RICK BAKER is honored with the prestigious VINCENT PRICE AWARD as part of HOLLYWOOD HORRORFEST on Sun. Sept. 21 in Los Angeles. Celebrating his iconic creature FX for AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, MICHAEL JACKSON’S THRILLER, and KING KONG (1976), Mr. Baker will be presented the Award by Vincent’s daughter VICTORIA PRICE.
BAKER, who was famously presented his first Academy Award by PRICE, joked “Vincent gave me my first Oscar. Victoria gave me the Vincent Price Award. Now I just need the Vincent Price Cookbook and my life will be complete.”
HOLLYWOOD HORRORFEST is the proud home of the official PRICE AWARD. As Festival Founder MILES FLANGAN explains, “It’s an award that celebrates VINCENT PRICE’S unique artistic and iconic legacy by honoring an artist whose work has achieved equally iconic status in the horror/fantasy genres.”
As BAKER stated, “I’ve made monsters my whole life. Vincent Price made monsters immortal. This award connects us in the best possible way.”
Afterwards BAKER will sit down with FLANAGAN in a cosy ‘Johnny Carson-style’ conversation about the inspirations, challenges and history of these enduring and influential monster creations. The event even comes with its own ‘chat show-style’ house band, THE SLAUGHTERED LAMBS, to keep the relaxed vibe going.
Prior to this VICTORIA will talk about her father, the real VINCENT PRICE, through her uniquely personal stories and photos, and bring awareness to her father’s art museum, his spiritual home at East LA College and his enduring art legacy.
The event is a fundraiser for THE VINCENT PRICE SCHOLARSHIP – given to EAST LA COLLEGE Makeup Students. Says JESSICA L.
