Just days before Halloween, Slasher has released its largest
update yet, expanding the horror-first social platform with new ways for fans to connect
and discover the genre year-round.

Slasher, the social platform built specifically for horror fans, has released the largest update in its seven-year history. Nearly every part of the platform was touched during the two-year development process, but connection remains at the center. The updated experience makes it easier for members to keep up with the people they care about and see how they are connected to others across the community.
The Movies section has been completely redesigned. A new Watch Now area shows which streaming services carry horror movies in your country, while a dedicated trailer section lets fans search, sort and watch thousands of trailers. Each movie page now brings together ratings, reviews, where to watch, other members who are fans, recommendations and movie lists.
The Books section has also been rebuilt. Members can save titles, build movie and book lists and browse other members’ lists. Reviewer rankings are available for both movies and books, recognizing people who review frequently and making it easier to find reviewers whose taste in horror matches your own.
Both the Movies and Books sections now include Gore Factor™, Slasher’s own rating system. Members can rate how gory a movie or book is on a scale of one to five blood spatters, then browse or sort titles based on gore level.
“There are a lot of horror fans who absolutely love to see lots of blood and guts. Of course, there are also people who don’t care to see much of it,” said Slasher founder Damon Della Greca. “I wanted to add a way for people to know how much blood and guts they can expect in a movie or book, so they can decide if they want to check it out or not.”
Slasher first launched on May 31, 2019 as a dedicated home for horror fans, creators and genre imagery that often struggles on mainstream social platforms. Since then, it has grown beyond its original social features into movie and book discovery, horror events, community reviews and tools for independent creators, while keeping the community fresh.
“This is a major step forward for Slasher,” Della Greca said. “Hopefully, everyone likes the way it’s evolving. There’s still a lot more on the way.”
The update is available now. Its release arrives just days before Halloween, when horror takes over the cultural calendar, but Slasher was built for the fans who live and breathe horror all year long. Not all horror fans wait for Halloween.
