The annual Los Angeles competition will kick off with an opening night gala October 4
The Shriekfest Film Festival, an international horror/sci-fi film and screenplay competition, has announced its 2018 official selections and is slated to screen the supernatural feature film Ashes.
The film, written and directed by Barry Jay, follows a group of family members who are gifted the remains of their late aunt. In short time, a series of supernatural events begin to occur, leading them through a nightmarish journey to banish the vexed spirit. The film stars Maria Olsen, Damien Diaz and Elizabeth Keener.
More information can be found on the Shriekfest website.
In addition to Ashes and nine other feature films, Shriekfest will also screen more than 30 outstanding and diverse international short films, covering just about every aspect of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. See the schedule: https://www.shriekfest.com/schedule/los-angeles/.
The Shriekfest Film Festival runs October 4 – 7, 2018. The public is invited to an opening night party at Boardners/Club Sinister in Hollywood; all are also welcome to attend the screenings at the iconic Raleigh Studios on Melrose Ave.
Shriekfest, now in its 18th year, was created in July 2001 by Denise Gossett and has grown into the longest-running and one of the largest horror and sci-fi film festivals in the country. Shriekfest is bi-coastal for a second year as well, with Shriekfest Orlando kicking off on November 3.
Since its inception, Shriekfest has offered young and upcoming writers, actors and producers a chance to have their work screened and rated by peers.
