Horror Photographer Ama Lea to serve as editor of DELIRIUM Magazine

Photographer and Filmmaker Ama Lea to Become DELIRIUM Magazine’s First Ever Guest Editor

Celebrated LA-based artist will take over cult and horror film periodical’s 21st issue with a focus on ’90s genre movies

Created by producer and publisher Charles Band and former FANGORIA editor and filmmaker Chris Alexander, DELIRIUM magazine has made a name for itself by covering all areas of genre cinema, from Full Moon and Empire Pictures classics like RE-ANIMATOR and SUBSPECIES, to cult favorites like Jess Franco’s JACK THE RIPPER, Nazi zombie classic SHOCK WAVES and Eurohorror masterworks like TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD as well as exclusive, in-depth, intelligent interviews with noted genre figures like Nicolas Winding Refn, John Logan, Barbara Crampton, Dario Argento and David Cronenberg.

Since DELIRIUM’s first issue, the magazine has been edited and curated exclusively by Alexander, along with former FANGORIA almuni including managing editor Michael Gingold and designer W.R. Mohalley, with contributing support from writer Jason Bene. Now, for the first time, Band and Alexander are turning over the mag to special guest editor, an artist that has long been a contributor to DELIRIUM’s look and feel, sculpting photo-shoots for many of the mag’s arresting, inimitable covers: LA-based filmmaker and photographer Ama Lea.

Lea will take over DELIRIUM for its now-in-production 21st issue, a celebration and flashback to an often overlooked aspect of genre culture: the 1990s.

“I am thrilled to be putting together this special edition of DELIRIUM,” says Lea.
“Why the ’90s? Because the ’90s were f**king awesome! The rise of young adult horror, the return of the slasher, and the birth of franchises such as CANDYMAN, SCREAM and many more. In this issue you can expect to find the pages brimming with all things 90s: essays from many of your favorite voices in horror, to photo shoots and editorials by many of the film makers, actors, and other creators that breathed life back back into the genre.”

Alexander continues:

“I’ve been working with Ama for almost a decade to design high-concept covers and photo-shoots for both FANGORIA and GOREZONE and eventually DELIRIUM and I’m constantly amazed by her unique vision, which takes her passion for strange cinema and makes it absolutely personal and distinctive. 1990’s horror is something I tend to overlook, mostly because I’m – generally speaking – not a fan. But an entire generation was raised on this stuff and its vital DELIRIUM delves deep into it. And Ama Lea is simply the right person for the gig. She’ll bring her passion as well as her unique visual texture and identity to these pages.”

DELIRIUM #21 is now in production and will be on sale late September. DELIRIUM #20 has just been released and can be purchased – along with back issues and subscriptions at www.FullMoonDirect.com.
