Kickstarter Campaign Begins for Psychological Horror Film CUSTOM

Filmmaker Tiago Teixeira and producer Luiza Paiva have launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring the psychological horror film CUSTOM to the screens. The award-winning project is seeking backers to produce an original and thrilling short inspired by Giallo classics.

Their overall goal is to raise £9,000 from fan support via the Kickstarter campaign by March 2, 2022 to complete the award-winning project that won the Dark Arts Film Festival Pitch last year.

CUSTOM is an edgy sensual nightmare, a psychological horror, and a commentary on the impact of our voyeuristic culture on the very real lives of the people on the other end of the webcam. In the film, A couple’s life goes out of control after they venture into creating custom erotic videos for a mysterious client.

“This short film wants to ask the viewer to meditate on how the web facilitates violent erotic output and how this might affect people on the other side of the camera. In which sense does this differs from the cinema experience and the highly stylised violence against women that have become commonplace in horror films? And, most importantly, what part does the audience plays in it?”, says Director Tiago Teixeira.

Tiago Teixeira’s films have been screened in festivals like the London Short Film Festival, Abertoir, Aesthetica Film Festival, Fantaspoa, and Frightfest. His film DOG SKIN won the Directorial Discovery Award from the Flicker’s Rhode Island Film Festival. Tiago was also a screenwriter for HBO’s THE HYPNOTIST.

Luiza de Paiva specializes in campaigns for social change, production of films, and artistic multimedia projects, and has an MA in Media Practice for Development and Social Change at the University of Sussex as a Stuart Hall Foundation Scholar.

The cinematographer Korsshan has worked as a cinematographer for Netflix (TOP BOY), Channel 4, Apple Tv, Sky, BBC one, BFI, My Accomplice, Rankin, Mert & Marcus, and others.

Contributors to the CUSTOM Kickstarter Campaign will receive unique, amazing, thrilling, one-of-a-kind incentives for supporting the independent project. “In the age of superhero blockbusters, the future of independent cinema is uncertain. We depend on our audience to keep producing our off-beat films.”, says Teixeira.
