LGBTQ+ Horror-Comedy “Summoning Sylvia” Trailer Released, Coming to Theaters March 31

The Horror Collective will release the horror-comedy Summoning Sylvia in select theaters on March 31 before going wide on video-on-demand platforms and home-video on April 7.

The movie follows a gay bachelor party which takes a spooky turn when the groom’s straight ex-military brother crashes the proceedings and sinister spirits are summoned.

Summoning Sylvia was directed by Wesley Taylor (a Broadway veteran known for Rock of Ages and The Addams Family) and Alex Wyse (returning to Broadway this season in Good Night Oscar), making their directorial debuts, which they also wrote together.

The directors commented “Ultimately a celebration of queer friendship, the film explores the assumptions we make about each other, which can lead to some super silly scary spooky s—!”

“Summoning Sylvia was born during the early days of the pandemic.” added Tony Award-winning and Grammy-nominated producer Cody Lassen, “what started as a project to pass the time while theaters were closed, ended up a very timely and hilarious film.”

“We continue our mission to bring new and exciting voices to the horror fans everywhere” commented Shaked Berenson, CEO of Entertainment Squad, The Horror Collective’s parent company. “We are proud to bring Summoning Sylvia to communities across the country this Spring.

Cast include Travis Coles (Dollhouse), Frankie Grande (Spree), Michael Urie (Ugly Betty), Troy Iwata (Dash & Lily), Noah Ricketts (American Gods), Nicholas Logan (I Care a Lot), Tony-nominee Veanne Cox, Camden Garcia (Station 19) and Sean Grandillo (Scream: The TV Series).

Summoning Syliva was produced by Diamond Dog Entertainment, Cody Lassen & Associates and in association with Slated.

The Horror Collective is the genre label of Entertainment Squad — a production and distribution company founded by veteran producer Shaked Berenson (TURBO KID, TALES OF HALLOWEEN). The labels’ latest productions include the killer-pants cult classic SLAXX (Shudder Original) and the critically acclaimed action-horror-comedy BLOODY HELL. Both titles are currently available on Shudder.
