Bristol’s Genre Film Festival to Host UK Restoration Premieres

Forbidden Worlds Film Festival to host UK premieres of four new restorations of genre classics

Bristol’s biggest repertory genre film festival returns on 18-21 May celebrating some of cinema’s most iconic big-screen creatures and their creators, action legend and Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh, and some genre classics found in the depths of the archives of video shop 20th Century Flicks.

Included in the line-up are four new restorations, each receiving their first-ever UK theatrical screenings as part of the festival.

ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 (1976)

Inspired by the classic John Wayne western Rio Bravo, Assault on Precinct 13 is an edge-of-your-seat thriller that firmly established director John Carpenter as a creative force to be reckoned with.

Forbidden Worlds Film Festival is proud to host the UK premiere of the new 4K restoration of Assault on Precinct 13 courtesy of producer Joseph Kaufman, Deaf Crocodile and the American Genre Film Archive.

DOLLS (1987)

From the director of cult classic Re-Animator (1985) comes a new 2K restoration of the diminutive toys of terror!

Forbidden Worlds Film Festival is proud to be screening the UK premiere of a new 2K restoration of Dolls, scanned from an original 35mm Interpositive, supervised by James Pearcey and James White, Arrow Films.

INVADERS FROM MARS (1953)

Dare you come to the UK premiere of the new 4K restoration of this sci-fi classic that once you see it will haunt your dreams forever?!

For sci-fi fans around the world, Invaders from Mars has forever burned itself into their psyche. This classic from 1953 plays on many of the paranoid Cold War fears of the age. Can you trust the people around you? Even your loved ones…?

THE WAY OF THE DRAGON (1973)

Forbidden Worlds Film Festival celebrates the life of Bruce Lee with the UK premiere of a new 4K restoration of the only film written, produced and directed by the great martial artist!.

The Way of the Dragon has been exclusively restored in 4K from the best existing film elements by Arrow Films and is presented in its original aspect ratio of 2.35:1.

It will be released on Blu-ray and 4K UHD this summer.
