Schorr Manor Brings ‘New Life’ to Old Horrors with Vintage Horror Crate

Matt Schorr – the head of Schorr Manor Studio best known for Jesus Christ: Demon Slayer, Moby Dick: Back from the Deep and the Dino Horrors series – is back with a massive lineup of classic horror monsters and comics in a campaign called the Vintage Horror Crate.

“This campaign launches four titles at once.” Matt explained. “It includes legends like Dracula and Frankenstein, as well as some other classics like werewolves, ghosts, vampires and more.”

These legends of horror return to print on remastered pages from 1970s Skywald publications, with spectacular illustrations by an international array of artists. To launch these titles, Matt and Schorr Manor, are back on Kickstarter with their biggest campaign to date.

Featured Titles

The Vintage Horror Crate includes four titles and nine issues in total. Here’s a breakdown:

· Dracula: God of the Dead #1 reimagines the Count’s blood-soaked origins during the Medieval Era, describing Dracula’s descent into vampirism.

· Werewolf Macabre #1 delivers ferocious, horrifying action in this tale set against the comic noir backdrop of 1970’s American inner cities.

· Frankenstein Unleashed #1 – #3 continues the Frankenstein monster’s rampage after the close of Mary Shelley’s tale, which sees Victor Frankenstein resurrected against his will and the monster coming face-to-face with the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Phantom of the Opera and more!

· Terrors from the Grave #1 – #4 is an anthology series of terror tales featuring ghosts, ghouls and even the Devil himself, as well as additional appearances from classics like Frankenstein and Dracula.

The Vintage Horror Crate Kickstarter campaign launches at noon on September 22, and will last 30 days. A direct link to the Kickstarter page is below:

Resurrecting old horrors

“I love the classics,” Matt said of his inspiration to remaster these terror tales. “Anything with Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolf-Man, I want to read it. I want to print it. I want to publish it. And as a kid, I absolutely loved anthology series like Tales from the Crypt. I watched the show, read the comics, even discovered the Saturday morning cartoon version. (Remember that?)

“This is all about giving new life to some classic stories.”

At the same time, he contributes a weekly humor column to the Leaf-Chronicle newspaper. Titled The Hard Way, it relays the ongoing trials and tribulations of a new father with two little ones, and the seemingly endless ways he manages to fall on his face as he tries to figure out what in the world he’s doing.
