CATHERINE CORCORAN, JUSTIN MILES, DOUG JONES, DEE WALLACE AND KRSY FOX SET FOR ‘IF IT BLEEDS,’ DIRECTED BY MATTHEW HERSH.
Cineverse Corp’s ‘Night of the Missing’ Producer and Segment Director Matthew Hersh announces his latest feature ‘If It Bleeds’ with iconic genre actors Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier, Return to Nuke Em High) and Justin Miles (Adult Swim’s Yule Log, The Hill, Old Dads) to star alongside horror legends Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water) and Dee Wallace (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Cujo) with actor and musician Krsy Fox (Underworld Evolution, Bury The Bride).
‘If It Bleeds,’ which is quietly nearing completion, follows the journey of Diane Winters (Catherine Corcoran), a young and ambitious news reporter and her cameraman Simon (Justin Miles), as they uncover a mysterious series of gruesome murders that unfold throughout the course of a chaotic and violent day. As events unfold, the duo become players in a sinister-situation even more menacing than either one could have imagined.
The anthology style crime thriller is the feature debut of writer/director Matthew Hersh whose aforementioned ‘Night of the Missing’ with director Samuel Gonzalez Jr. debuted at #1 on Cineverse’s Screambox streaming platform in December and has remained in the top of the platform ever since.
Other producers on the project include Allison Victoria-Wolfe, Doug Hawley with Samuel Gonzalez Jr. to direct an additional segment for the film. Corcoran and Fox will also serve as consulting producers.
Further details about the plot are being kept under wraps, but the film teases steller twists and turns alongside a cast of other familiar faces which audiences will never see coming.
Of the film Hersh says,”To have so many genre greats believe in me and trust me with the story I wanted to tell with this film at such an early stage of my career was truly surreal. I figured what better way to dive into the horror genre than through the eyes of a news reporter in the field seeing and facing the horrors of humanity unfold in front of her very own eyes.”
Corcoran says: “Ever a champion of independent filmmakers, I was thrilled when Matthew invited me to come along on this next phase of his creative journey. Diane’s story is universal in that we all have the need to be seen and valued, and I can’t wait for the world to see how our incredible cast and crew bring that theme to life.”
Jones comments “Getting to play a quirky cosmetic surgeon was a treat enough for me. But under Mathew Hersh’s careful direction and witty writing, that treat was sweetened all the more. Add to that the professional, efficient crew, the joy of acting opposite the thoughtful and hilarious Krsy Fox, and this filming experience was dang near perfect.”
