Castle De Crux comprises Elysia De Crux and Exor Magus De Crux. They blend a clever mix of lived experiences, current global issues, and the consequential effects on human society and its mental health. The duo’s sound is darkly alternative, accompanied by striking imagery and video. In their musical, artistic and theatric expression, Elysia and Exor feel an affinity with artists Emilie Autumn, Nick Cave, Joy Division, Cradle of Filth and The Sisters Of Mercy, to name just a few. While Castle De Crux’s lyrical topics can be deadly serious at times, the band tempers this with a wicked sense of humour, striking a fine balance between dark morbidity, glamour and fun.

Combining her powerful voice, lyrics and deep convictions, Elysia shares how her harrowing experiences led to mental illness and eating disorders, worsened by living through an era that didn’t acknowledge her autism. This survivor testifies of hope and recovery for others going through similar ordeals.

Exor has been involved with alternative musical theatre and gothic cabaret for as long as he can remember. He established Exor’s MagicVision Productions and EvilZgate Records to support the band Jokerbats in producing their ground-breaking music videos. Exor recently founded Exor Records; producing, composing, writing and arranging music for Castle De Crux.

Look closer… you will see a symbolic Castle; a recurring metaphor hidden in their imagery…

The Castle is a metaphor for the human mind and its varying mental conditions, both good and bad. Hopes, dreams, fears and frailties come to life represented by the Castles changing form, from peace and happiness to downright scary and horrific. The Castle’s design reflects modern reality with all the extremes one’s mentality can reach. For example, the castle can morph into a sinister foreboding environment, physically emulating fear, hate and depression. This same Castle can also transform into a haven of life and light when true happiness, peace and healing are attained.
