Screening: A Field in England (2013) and a 25th Anniversary screening of Ravenous (1999)
Hello! My name is Sal, and I’m writing to you today on behalf of Reel Life Monsters, my organisation that focuses on analysing LGBT+ subtext in horror films, reviewing horror films, and providing a safe place for LGBT+ horror fans. Our first ever film showing is coming up at the end of July, which will be a double bill of A Field in England and Ravenous (A 25th Anniversary Screening).
On July 31st, we will be presenting a duo of horror films through the perspective of the LGBT+ community. Between the films, there will be a short talk by Lucian Stephenson that will focus on both features, and their cultural relevance to the LGBT+ community. We will also have exclusive art prints for sale by Danny and Monty Leigh.
A Field in England (dir. Ben Wheatley, 2013)
Synopsis: Amid the Civil War in 17th-century England, a group of deserters flee from battle through an overgrown field. Captured by an alchemist, the men are forced to help him search to find a hidden treasure that he believes is buried in the field.
Ravenous (dir. Antonia Bird, 1999)
Synopsis: In a remote military outpost in the 19th century, Captain John Boyd and his regiment embark on a rescue mission which takes a dark turn when they are ambushed by a mysterious, dangerous man.
