Three men wake up in an elevator shaft room confused and on high alert. As they try to come to terms with their situation, they find themselves in a game of choices and survival known as ABACUS. Over the course of eight hours they must make a fatal decision that not just affects them all but the ones they love. As time goes on, they begin to discover information about one another that motivates their reactions and ultimately leads to a finale where only one man can remain alive. ABACUS is a tense and emotional thriller where one decision can lead to a domino effect of life or death.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
From the moment I conceived ABACUS, it was always meant to be a film about the evil
of men. The thought of being trapped with your enemy has always intrigued me and on the other side of that coin, what drives each person to commit the acts that they do in the pursuit of their better interest no matter the cost. These are definitely questions that are illustrated in this film.
ABACUS in many ways is a thriller and a drama but in some ways it’s also a horror film. But not in a traditional sense. It’s a horror film in the way that horror happens in real life. The things and circumstances we face. There is a balance between why we do what we do, and whether those things can be perceived as evil or good. That balance is tested in this film.
This movie truly is a my take on a drama at the end of the day. By crossing the genres, ABACUS has a feeling of old school thrillers of the past with a modern twist while maintaining a feeling of an Arthouse Film. Sure you can say this movie has elements of films we’ve seen before, but I truly feel this movie has an identity all on it’s own that separates it from what we’ve seen before and I hope that fans of genre films dig what we’ve done here. — Writer/Director/Producer – J.
