Après Vague Productions is proud to announce that the Queer apocalyptic Sci-Fi Horror film THE MOON IS A HOLOGRAM has begun filming in Manchester, England this week. The second feature film of Spidarlings director Selene Kapsaski is set to star Robyn Adams (The Estrogen Gospel) as Sasha, a young transgender punk who returns to Manchester only to discover the city has been taken over by aliens.
The film will play homage to classic Sci-Fi films like Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Day the Earth Stood Still while maintaining Selene Kapsaski’s punk sensibilities and touches on subjects such as the rise of transphobia and the far right in the UK.
The film will be shot in 4K but will also make use of 8mm film and a lomokino cameras.
The film will feature a special appearance by Synth (s)Punk duo Arch Femmesis as well as Manchester based singer and song-writer Beth Warburton, both who filmed their scenes in Rochdale this week. The film also stars Jessie Leiper, Frank Bertoletti, H.C.A. Taylor, Lili Thorpe, Kat B. and Jeff Kristian. Produced by Rahel Kapsaski (The Red Lips of the Octopus) and is brought to you by the team that made Troma’s cult classic Spidarlings. The film is funded by the Superbia Queer Arts Grant hosted by Manchester Pride.
The film is set to be released in 2025.
