Meet these Indian Siblings – Making Indie Horror Films for a Global Audience

Kerala based Indian siblings Nirmal Baby Varghese and Baby Chaitanya are currently busy with several indie horror films under the banner of Casablanca Film Factory. Nirmal and Chaithanya were born to Baby P K and Lilly Baby at Kavummannam, in Wayanad district, in Kerala, India. Despite being from a family that has nothing to do with cinema, they have won several national and international awards.

Chaithanya came as a producer to support her younger brother Nirmal’s wishes, who grew up with a passion for cinema from a young age. Their first film, a documentary called ‘Thariode’, garnered a lot of attention. The film found critical acclaim in the festival circuit. Later, they made ‘Vazhiye’ the first found footage horror film in Malayalam language.

Their goal was to bring the film to indie horror fans around the world. So they appointed famous Hollywood music director Evan Evans as the music director of the film. The film was also promoted by international actors such as Christopher Matthew Cook, Roger Ward, Carl Wharton, Bill Hutchens, Luing Andrews and Tim Abell to gain the attention of a worldwide audience. They took the film to world-class platforms like Amazon Prime, Tubi, Plex and created a very good market for the film. The film was discussed in many foreign social media groups and news.

After the success of ‘Vazhiye’, time loop horror film ‘Dreadful Chapters’ was produced and released worldwide digitally. Both are currently in the pre-production work of the zombie film Disease X: The Zombie Experiment. The film also features a cameo appearance by legendary Australian actor Roger Ward, who gained worldwide attention with the Australian dystopian action film ‘Mad Max’ (1979). Nirmal and Chaithanya are in talks for more films with actors and technicians from all over the world. As per their IMDb pages both have ten and more upcoming horror projects.
