NEXT STEP: WORLD CONQUEST!
Lock your doors, bar your windows, hide your pets – after many, many months of collaboration between me and Ohio filmmaker Jake “Danger” Jolley, the raucous horror-comedy film CLAY ZOMBIES 3D is ready to be unleashed upon the world.
We started with an already fun, (kinda) family-friendly tale of an evil scientist trying to infect the world with Gumbyesque, clay-animated zombies and the ragtaq band of heroes out to stop him – including a trigger-happy sheriff, a snarky lab assistant, a woman warrior, a comic book delivery guy, and a hybrid vampire/werewolf/warlock/notary public – and brought new depth to the mayhem through my funky, innovative SpaceBrains3D process.
In fact, the results turned out so good that we’ve decided all this wonderfulness could not be constrained to TV sets. So, yes, CLAY ZOMBIES 3D will be making its way to theaters. Large screens! Real polarized 3D glasses! Sticky floors! Artificial butter-flavored topping! We’ve already lined up dates in the first quarter of 2025 at the Capitol Theatre in Boston (in digital 3D), and the London State Theater in London, Ohio (anaglyph 3D – for the record, we wouldn’t turn our backs on that other London, too), and are working on other venues as well. Maybe one near you? If you wish real hard, it could happen! (Or you can get in touch with me.)
In the meantime, the exclusive DVD edition of CLAY ZOMBIES 3D, in glorious Trioscopics anaglyph 3D (no special equipment needed), is now on-sale at my Etsy store (https://spacebrains3d.etsy.com). Forget iPhones or a brand-new Prius, this is the gift your loved ones truly want. The look on their faces will say it all!
Streaming screeners in both red/cyan and Trioscopics green/magenta anaglyph are available. Let me know if you want to be linked, and also if you need glasses.
ABOUT JAKE JOLLEY AND TAPE ABOUT IT:
Jake Jolley is a proud B-movie filmmaker, influenced by movies with earnest characters and heart, like Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Clay Zombies, his first feature film, was inspired by his love of George Romero zombie movies and the idea of rescuing a pet during a zombie apocalypse. Due to a lack of budget for zombie makeup and a love for Ray Harryhausen’s stop motion films, Jolley decided to make his zombies with clay for an original zombie movie experience. Prepare for a B-movie comedy like none other, where Camp is king and puns and guns are a-plenty. One thing is for sure: If you touch the clay, you’re gonna have a bad day.
ABOUT DAN PERSONS AND SPACEBRAINS3D:
Hi, I’m Dan Persons, the dba behind Upstart Company and the conceiver, developer, and sole practitioner of SpaceBrains3D, a system that combines AI and manual processes to create a unique brand of dimensional entertainment. This is by no means a fly-by-night, cash-in type of operation; I come to it from a lifelong passion for how tech can be used to create more experiential forms of art, three years of experimentation born of a dissatisfaction over how mainstream studios were utilizing stereoscopic presentation as a cynical way to apply a premium upsell to the same-ol’ same-ol’, and a thirty year background in film journalism and criticism, including stints at ifc.com and reelz.com, my editorship at the legendary fan magazine Cinefantastique, and present posts doing reviews for WBAI NY’s Hour of the Wolf, and a monthly column, The SF Path to Higher Consciousness, for reactormag.com.
