Selene Kapsaski will be bringing a new Sci-Fi film to the big screens.
The Moon is a Hologram is a queer Sci-Fi horror movie written and directed by cult filmmaker Selene Kapsaski, best known as the director of TROMA’s Horror Musical Spidarlings (2016) and features a primarily trans cast including Robyn Adams (The Estrogen Gospel), Jessie Leiper (Mars) and Frank Bertoletti.
The film also features special appearances by electro punk duo Arch Femmesis and Manchester based singer and songwriter Beth Warburton.
The film centers around a trans polycule navigating survival amidst an alien takeover set against the backdrop of Manchester’s iconic Canal Street.
The film maintains Selene Kapsaski’s special blend of punk and camp aesthetics while tackling such subjects as transphobia, the rise of the alt right and queer erasure.
Drawing inspiration from classic Sci-Fi films like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Day the Earth Stood Still, and Total Recall, The Moon is a Hologram effectively blends elements of paranoia with uncanny scenarios.
The Moon is a Hologram stands out as an innovative contribution to modern queer cinema.
Produced by Rahel Kapsaski (The Red Lips of the Octopus) who is also the special FX make-up artist and Gabriella Kapsaski (director of Artemis of the Wildland) .
The soundtrack will feature original music and songs by Jeff Kristian (who also wrote the songs for Selene Kapsaski’s Spidarlings), Beth Warburton, afterscare, Arch Femmesis and more.
The Film is brought to you by Après Vague Productions and is financed by Manchester Pride and Superbia Queer Arts Grant.
