Horror-Fix Films Unveils First Look at MANGLED: The Shelbyville Torture Tapes

Horror-Fix Films has released the first official look at its next major horror docudrama, Mangled: The Shelbyville Torture Tapes, offering audiences an early glimpse into what promises to be one of the most disturbing and provocative genre films of 2026.

Currently in production and tracking toward a first-quarter 2026 wrap, Mangled is slated for a late 2026 release. The film marks a significant creative reunion for key members of the award-winning teams behind Holes in the Sky: The Sean Miller Story and Final Days: Tales from the End Times.

Returning to the helm is director Ash Hamilton, whose previous work has earned critical acclaim for pushing the boundaries of found footage, docudrama, and hybrid horror formats. Hamilton once again joins forces with longtime collaborator Stephen Taylor, reuniting the writing duo responsible for crafting some of the genre’s most chilling narratives in recent years.

Also returning is Chanel Hamilton, serving double duty as both production designer and line producer. As the visual architect behind many of Horror-Fix Films’ most memorable and unsettling environments, Chanel brings her signature grounded realism to the brutal and claustrophobic world of Mangled. Her continued partnership with Ash Hamilton—both professionally and personally—has become a defining force behind the studio’s unique aesthetic.

Mangled: The Shelbyville Torture Tapes dives deep into a series of grisly mutilations that terrorized the Midwest, exploring not only the crimes themselves but also the lingering conspiracy surrounding the man believed to be responsible. Blending investigative documentary style with stark dramatizations, the film examines the haunting possibility that the true killer may still be at large—and that the official story may be nothing more than a carefully constructed illusion.

Horror-Fix Films describes Mangled as a “true crime docudrama filtered through a distinctly horrific lens,” promising a project that aims to unsettle, provoke debate, and challenge viewers’ assumptions about justice, truth, and the stories communities tell themselves to feel safe.

Today’s first-look release includes a curated series of production stills, capturing the film’s stark aesthetic, eerie rural environments, and the unsettling forensic detail for which the studio has become known. More updates, behind-the-scenes features, and additional stills will be released as production progresses.
