Alison Steadman, OBE (Pride and Prejudice, Gavin & Stacey) has joined the cast of the upcoming supernatural thriller Off Grid from West Midlands production company Dark Matter Films. She will play the role of ‘Grace Tanner’ and will be joined by Marc Baylis (Coronation Street’s Rob Donovan) appearing as ‘The Stranger’. Alison completes an A-list line-up already featuring Game of Thrones and Braveheart star James Cosmo, MBE in the lead role of ‘John Tanner’.
An Indiegogo campaign for Off Grid launched last month and ends on 1st May. The ‘perks’ on offer include the chance to be an extra in a key scene with IMDb credit, join the film as an Associate or Executive Producer including VIP set access and premiere tickets, or receive a copy of the finished film. Perks start from £10 with the campaign aiming to hit a total of £12,500, which will fund the payment of all crew and post-production costs.

Bewdley-based director Carl Timms said, “It’s testament to the power of Mark Brendan’s script that we have been able to assemble a cast of this quality for an independent short film.

With casting now complete Off Grid will shoot in mid-May in Worcestershire, with locations including Bewdley and Alvechurch.
Off Grid will be the second short for director Carl Timms and his writing partner Mark Brendan, who run Dark Matter Films. Their first film, the zombie short Still, was filmed on location in Birmingham and won 9 awards in a successful 18 month festival run.
