Jeffin Joseph won the outstanding achievement award in best acting award for his performance in the film ‘Dreadful Chapters’ at the Ideal International Film Festival 2023, Maharashtra. Filmmaker Nirmal Baby Varghese’s directorial ‘Dreadful Chapters’ has already garnered attention at some international film festivals.
Jeffin Joseph, a native of Cherupuzha, Kannur made his acting debut in the 2022 Malayalam film ‘Vazhiye’. Vazhiye was the first found footage movie in Malayalam which is also noted for the debut of Hollywood music director Evan Evans in Indian cinema.
‘Dreadful Chapters’ produced by Baby Chaitanya and Nirmal Baby under the banner of Casablanca Film Factory in association with Jefiin Joseph’s production company Vivid Frames. The film will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi languages apart from Malayalam. According to the director, the film will follow a group of friends trapped in a nightmarish time loop, forced to relive the same horrific experiences over and over again.
The film previously won the Best Experimental Film award at the Hollywood Gold Awards and was selected for Festivals Film Festival (Canada) and the Reels International Film Festival (Maharashtra). The director himself is doing the editing and sound designing of the film. Varun Ravindran, Arya Krishnan, Nibin Stani, Shyam Salash and Lasya Balakrishnan are playing the other main characters in this horror thriller.
The crew behind “Dreadful Chapters” includes cinematographer Midhun Eravil, editor and sound designer Nirmal Baby Varghese himself, and composer Fazal Khais. The director himself handled the editing and director of audiography. Second unit cinematography: Shobin Francis. Jeese Joseph is the project designer and Arun Kumar Panayal and Saran Kumar Bare are the associate directors. Music director: Fazal Khais. In addition, Nirmal Baby Varghese’s time-loop horror film ‘Dreadful Chapters’ won the Best Feature Film award at Festivus Film Fest. It is an online film festival based in Canada.
