Award-winning indie feature THE REBRAND set for European Premiere at the 30th edition of LUND Fantastic Film Festival on October 29.
Fresh from its win as Best Feature at the Queer Fear Film Festival, Montreal’s Kaye Adelaide’s unhinged mockumentary THE REBRAND is making its way to Europe for the highly anticipated LUND Fantastic Film Festival on October 29.
This wild take on the found footage genre follows pregnant videographer Nicole (Naomi Silver-Vézina) as she documents the “redemption” of lesbian influencer couple Thistle and Blaire—only to uncover their dark agenda.
As Nicole navigates the unsettling dynamics between psychotic content-queen Thistle (Nancy Webb) and her codependent, heartthrob financée Blaire (Andi E McQueen), she becomes ensnared in their demented plans. What begins as a job documenting the influencer’s comeback spirals into mayhem, as Nicole must confront the very real danger behind their oh-so aesthetic façade.
Director Kaye Adelaide shares, “The Rebrand was a labour of love and great perseverance. It was produced without outside funding on a shoestring budget of around $5000 and a core team of three fantastic cast and six ride-or-die crew members. My goal is to bring audiences on a rollercoaster of sapphic codependency taken to the extreme, creating an unforgettable experience which will make you laugh and scream in equal measure.
The film uses a fly-on-the-wall documentary style to explore toxic relationships, social media culture, and the complexity of queer relationships in high-stakes environments. THE REBRAND combines comedy and horror, leaving audiences both entertained and unnerved.
